There is nothing more frustrating than getting a traffic speeding ticket. Although there are many traffic violations, usually when you get a ticket for one you feel somewhat at fault. For example, if you blow a traffic red light or a stop sign, fail to use your turn signal, or veer out of your lane, It makes sense for a cop to stop you. With traffic speeding tickets, however, it is different.

Every time I have been pulled over for a traffic speeding ticket, there have been literally hundreds of cars passing by, going over the speed limit as the cop writes the ticket. It may be illegal to speed, but it is such a widely disregarded law that is practically a joke. Getting a traffic speeding ticket isn’t a matter of being justly punished for breaking the law – it is more akin to losing the lottery. Some cop or another has to make his quota, and you happen to be the unlucky driver who he selects to help him out. With that said a lot of car accidents are caused by speeding so we can’t moan too much when getting pulled up for speeding.

That is why I decided to fight my traffic speeding ticket when I last got one. It felt like such a fundamental injustice that I was determined to go against it. In the past, I had never fought back, but this time I was ready. I psyched myself up for it. I would give an impassioned defense, wowing everyone in the courtroom and winning the judge over to my side. I knew that they had used profiling to write my traffic violation, and although I may have been breaking the law by going a few miles per hour over the speed limit, I didn’t deserve to be punished when everyone else who was doing the same thing got off without any consequences.

As it turns out, beating the traffic speeding ticket was much easier than I had imagined. The cop didn’t even show up! There I was, pacing back and forth dramatically and ready to give the judge a passionate defense, and the case was over before it even started! I was just glad that I got to win. I didn’t really care how my victory came about, as long as I didn’t have to pay that speeding traffic ticket.

Hopefully in your life you will avoid most of the traffic accidents around you. So far I have been pretty lucky, but I don’t know how far that luck will extend. I remember when I was eight years old a man with a pickup flipped over on the highway in front of us. Had it not been for the quick reflexes of my dad, we may have been right in the middle of the accident and we could have been seriously hurt. Luckily, the only thing that happened was the driver’s dog was thrown from the back of his truck. Thankfully the poor little guy was fine and walking around within a few minutes.

I detest the myth that women never remember to change the motor oil in the car. Granted, it has been a long time since I have done so, but it is not because I have forgotten, it is because my husband always does it after I remind him. I guess it would only be fair for me to do it once in a while, but because he uses our single car most of the time, it only makes sense that he is the one that takes it in to be changed.

We are told to change the motor oil every 3000 miles in our vehicles. This is probably a good idea, but we usually go about 4000 before we do so. I still remember the first time I bought a used car for sale. I was 17, and I was borrowing a big chunk of the money from my parents. Some people were there like me – just to get a car to fix up and drive around town.

I didn’t find anything that I wanted at that car auction. There were a lot of cars there, but I was mostly there just to get a feel for the whole process. The next time I was at an auction offering used cars for sale, however, I did make a purchase. I found an old beat up Camaro. It was beautiful. I knew it would require a lot of work, but I didn’t care. I bought it right then and there, and started working on it as soon as I got the chance.

Impound car auctions are also a great place to find some really good branded cars, which would otherwise cost more at regular auctions.  Some of these impounded car auctions are advertised in newspapers or posted on the internet and most police auctions are done every month.  Seized car auctions are probably the best way for getting a car below it’s trade-in value, and often far below.  Whether you want to buy a car to re-sell, or you’re looking for a car for yourself or a child, a seized car auction is the best place to look for an affordable used vehicle.
